This course introduces the concept of livelihoods and components of the livelihoods framework. It presents the existing livelihoods approaches and methods. The course also provides guidance on assessing livelihoods in different food security contexts and selecting and interpreting livelihoods indicators.
The target audience of the e-learning course includes:
- Mid-level managers, technical staff, field personnel who are involved in the collection, management, analysis, and reporting of food security information.
- Planners, policy formulators and programme managers who are involved in monitoring progress in poverty reduction, and meeting food security goals and targets.
- Concept of livelihoods.
- Components of the livelihoods framework.
- Livelihoods assessment approaches.
- Key indicators for each aspect of the livelihood framework.
- Selecting and interpreting livelihoods indicators.
The course consists of 3 lessons, ranging from approximately 40 to 45 minutes duration each:
- Lesson 1 – Introduction to Livelihoods
- Lesson 2 – Assessing Livelihoods
- Lesson 3 – Livelihoods Indicators
The interactive version of the course is available as a downloadable package and only runs on Windows PC’s and doesn't require any additional software. Please read the following instructions.
